Mangrove plantation initiative at Sunderbans.
More than 1000 mangrove saplings planted at a stretch of 1 Km on the river bank of Durgaduani, Sunderbans Tiger Reserve.
Native Species plantation
Afforestation & Maintenance of 2000 plus Native & Endangered Species of plants at Sonamukhi Range Bankura, with support from West Bengal Forest Department
The purpose of the program was:
- Massive afforestation of native species
- Maintenance of the native species of saplings
- Increase forest cover of Bengal following the ‘Green Warrior Project’ by Govt. of West Bengal
- Reduce direct dependency on forest by local villagers
- Provide vegetation for animals, thereby mitigating, specially Human- Elephant conflicts
- Forest fringe community development with the by-products of the native trees
