Working to sustain the natural world for the benefit of people and nature
Bonyo's initiatives on plantation
Team Bonyo regularly organizes health camps for forest fringe villagers in various corners of West Bengal with support from various corporate organizations, friends and families.
Team Bonyo were one of the first to visit the Sunderbans after the disastrous cyclone 'Amphan' in 2020 and distributed relief materials to more than 800 distressed families in various island villages of the mangroves, with logistics support from West Bengal Forest Department
In order to prevent wildlife crimes, team Bonyo works hand in hand with WCCB, West Bengal Forest Department, West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police Department. Awareness and sensitizing programs are conducted regularly.
Other than annual forest visit with members, other nature activities, bird watching programs and environmental camps with students and common people are being arranged.
Our volunteers supported the forest dept. staffs in rescue of various wild animals like turtles, civet cats, fishing cats, snakes. A separate project named 'Mukto Bihongo' has been initiated to rescue injured birds.
Bonyo is supporting the forest fringe communities for their up-liftment and empowering them with better education for their children, encouraging them to participate in forest reserve sustainability and support them in alternate livelihood to preserve the forest and wildlife bio-diversity. The main purpose is to reduce the direct dependency on forest and prevent forest degradation.
